BUT GOD: From Betrayal to Breakthrough

When betrayal tries to bury you, resurrection is already written into your story.
Betrayal Was the Setup
Betrayal comes to break you, silence you, and bury your voice. But God never wastes pain. What was meant to destroy you becomes the very soil where resurrection life springs forth.
Jesus experienced this personally—betrayed by one in His inner circle.
Luke 22:47–53
He was handed over, arrested, and led to the cross. But that betrayal wasn’t the end—it was the beginning of a divine breakthrough. He was crucified, buried… but on the third day—He rose again! Luke 24
The Power of “BUT GOD”
What they meant to use to take you out—God is using to lift you up.
It wasn’t the end. It was the storm before the shift, the death before the resurrection. God specializes in raising what others count out.
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies…”Romans 8:11
God Is Doing a New Thing
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?”Isaiah 43:19
This “new thing” isn’t new to God—it’s a new revelation of Him to us.
Old Testament Promises:
New things declared (Isaiah 42:9, 43:19)
Rivers in deserts, paths in wilderness
Restoration to the weary
New Testament Fulfillment:
🩸 A new covenant – Luke 22:20
❤️ A new commandment – John 13:34
🕊️ A new creation – 2 Corinthians 5:17
🌱 Newness of life – Romans 6:4
You’re not going back to who you were—you’re becoming who you were always meant to be. God is revealing Himself in a new way… and He’s revealing the new YOU.
Live with Resurrection Vision
Even betrayal works for your good.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God…”Romans 8:28
God doesn’t abandon His own.
“For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.”Psalm 48:14
He is guiding you through each death, each change, each new season. And what’s ahead?
“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”Psalm 27:13

Reflection Questions
What betrayal or loss have you carried into this season?
Are you willing to believe God has a resurrection plan for it?
What “new thing” is God revealing to you right now?
Declaration: I will not let betrayal silence me. The same Spirit that raised Jesus lives in me. God is guiding me through every season, including this one. I will rise. I will heal. I will see the goodness of the Lord. BUT GOD is doing a new thing in me!
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being the God who brings beauty from betrayal, power from pain, and resurrection from what looked like death. I surrender the wounds and the silence. I receive the new thing You are doing in my life. Resurrect me in purpose. Renew me in strength. Restore my voice and my vision. Thank You that I will see Your goodness in the land of the living.In Jesus’ name—Amen.
